Burnley Football Club is pleased to announce that defender Tuanzebe will join the team after his contract with Ipswich expires on July 1. The former Manchester United and Aston Villa centre-back have signed with Burnley, becoming Scott Parker's third signing in the summer transfer window. After signing, Tuanzebe said: "I am very happy to be here. After talking to the head coach, the decision became very simple. His message was very clear and direct. For me, it was a new chapter. Back in Manchester and near my home, I am ready to continue my journey in Burnley."
Tuanzebe was born in Democratic Congo, moved to England when he was young and joined Manchester United's youth training camp at the age of 8. He grew up in Old Trafford's system and made his first-team roster in October 2015. In January 2017, he made his debut as an adult team. Tuanzebe, 27, has played for Manchester United in the Premier League and Champions League, and has been captaining in a League Cup match in 2019, becoming the club's youngest captain in more than 30 years.
In the second half of the 2017/18 season, Tuanzebe joined Aston Villa on loan, and then helped the team return to the Premier League in the following season. In the summer of 2019, he renewed his contract with Manchester United and made more than 30 appearances in the next two seasons. In the first half of the 2021/22 season, Tuanzebe joined Aston Villa on loan for the third time, and then joined Naples in January 2022. In the 2022/23 season, he played on loan at Stoke City before joining Ipswich in September 2023. There he made 22 appearances, helping the team advance to the Premier League. Last season, he made 22 appearances in Ipswich's Premier League matches and eventually rejected the team's new contract and chose to join Burnley.
