According to the Sun, the father of a Premier League star has been accused of being abusing women in a Wetherspoon bar chain. He was accused of improper touching a woman while staying overnight in a bar.
This man in his 60s (whose name is not disclosed according to regulations) was investigated by the police in March after a woman reported the case. He was questioned for hours after voluntarily surrendering and has now been formally charged with sexual assault.
Sources said: "This incident shocked everyone. He went out with his family on the night of the incident and denied all misconduct. He always actively cooperated with the police investigation and was extremely shocked by the alleged decision. He had never had any bad police records before."
According to the police report, surveillance images were released several days after the incident for public investigation. Police say the suspect is believed to have approached the victim from the rear and performed improper touch. The victim was allegedly "shocked" because of this.
Shocked friends had urgently contacted the suspect (his son is an active international) and told the police that he was being searched. The star's father then surrendered and was released on bail after being questioned. But it has been formally prosecuted and will appear in Sheffield District Court next month.
