Samsung's crystal circle manufacturing business had some twists and turns, and after signing a USD 16.5 billion chip manufacturing contract with Tesla, it seems to have regained its advantages. Market news came out that before the South Korean and US summit on August 25, Samsung will invest another $7.2 billion in chip manufacturing facilities in the United States.

According to foreign media GSMArena, this investment will be used in advanced packaging factories and placed in the original plan of US$37 billion chip manufacturing investment. Samsung plans to produce 2-nanometer and 4-nanometer chips to meet the needs of new customers such as Apple and Tesla, while avoiding Trump's tax-related policies.

In fact, Samsung initially planned to invest $44 billion, but Samsung chip demand was sluggish at that time, so it decided to cancel the chip packaging plan, and now it has reopened the plan again.

Although this news has not yet been officially proven, it is expected that Samsung will officially announce the matter at the South Korean and US summit on August 25.

Samsung believes that it can compete in the US market because it can provide a complete manufacturing solution, including chip manufacturing, chip packaging and memory chip manufacturing, while rivals only provide chip manufacturing and packaging, and SK Hynix only produces memory chips.

Samsung Taylor Fab 1 factory is close to completion and the construction project is expected to be completed by the end of this year, but the chip manufacturing equipment will be installed next year.
